Saint Uspenskaja Kievo-pecherskaja lavra is the most ancient monastery of Rus, main center of Russian orthodoxy, object of world cultural legacy under the guard of UNESCO. Founded in 1051 prp. By Anthony by Pechersk as a spelaean monastery (territory of the present Distant caves). In 1062 the first surface building appear, in 1070-80th is a complex of Overhead Lavry. A main relict is earthly remains of reverend fathers. Epic Ilya Muromec is here buried. A uspenskij cathedral (1073-89, recovered in 2000) is the most ancient lithoidal building of Lavry. Great lavra bell tower (1731-45) in a 96,5 m high is the highest point of Kyiv (374 stages, open for a visit). A troickaja nadvratnaja church (1107) is erected on facilities of prince Sviatoslav Davydovicha (Nikoly Svjatoshi), the wall painting of the XVIII century was saved. For a visit the Near and Distant caves are open, where the earthly remains of lavra devotees, living in a period with XI for XV vv. are kept. On territory of Lavry a few museums operate: Museum of mikrominiatjur of N. Sjadristogo, Museum of historical  valuables, Museum of the Ukrainian folk decorative art, Museum of book and book-printing, Museum theatrical, musical and cinematographic arts (tickets are for sale at an entrance in every museum). At an entrance an excursion bureau is located in a lavra, there are for sale guide-books on different languages. The saint Uspenskaja Kievo-pecherskaja lavra is an operating orthodox monastery of UPC of MT. At the visit of temples and caves women are necessary to be in skirts below than knees and with the covered head (on included in caves it is possible to take a skirt on a rental basis)
