arhikafedral'nyj cathedral Sv. Jura is in Lviv - one of the most beautiful architectural ensembles of city, pearl of the Ukrainian baroque. Main sacred object of the Ukrainian greco-catholic church, where the residence of metropolitans of UGKC was situated long time. First church on Svjatojurskoj grief in Lviv was founded yet in the days of Galichina-Volhynia principality. A present temple complex is erected in 1744-70 on a project B. Meretina, which connected style of rococo with Ukrainian sacral aesthetics. On a main facade the sculptures of I. Pinzelja are set. On a bell tower the most ancient in Ukraine bell (1341) is placed. The most valuable relict of temple is a miraculous icon of The Most Holy Virgin Maria (XVII century). In a cathedral Sv. Jura the metropolitans of A. are buried Sheptickij and V. Sternjuk, patriarch I. Slipyj. Alongside there is a palace of metropolitans, in which in 2001 stopped during a visit to Ukraine Dad Ioann Paul II. With 1998 cathedral Sv. Jura together with the ensemble of historical center of Lviv is included in the list of world legacy of UNESCO
